Poorba Philanthropy 2025 Recap,
Poorba: Where Compassion is a Constant, and Community is the Cause
In a world that often measures success in numbers and profits, Poorba continues to measure it in kindness, service, and human connection.
For this volunteer-run organization rooted in Mountain House, compassion is’t an event – it’s a way of life. Every season brings a new reason to give, every initiative a new chance to unite neighbors, and every volunteer a new opportunity to lead with heart.
While others may debate or doubt, Poorba quietly continues doing what it has always done – serving with purpose, transparency, and integrity. From environmental responsibility to youth empowerment, from supporting the homeless to nurturing young minds, Poorba’s story through 2024 and 2025 has been one of unwavering commitment to the people and spirit of Mountain House.
A Cleaner Tomorrow Begins at Home
The year began with a spark – or more accurately, the safe collection of them.
On January 4th, Poorba launched its Household Battery Disposal Drive, empowering residents to safely dispose of used batteries right from their porches. What made the initiative truly special was who led it – students from Elementary and above, many children of Poorba families, mapping routes, collecting bags, and learning what it means to take ownership of their environment.
It wasn’t just a cleanup drive. It was a hands-on lesson in sustainability and civic pride, reminding everyone that small actions, when multiplied by many, create lasting change.
Serving with Heart: Partnerships that Heal and Uplift
During Durga Pujo, Dandiya 2024, and Holi 2025, Poorba turned celebration into compassion by partnering with St. Mary’s Community Services in Stockton. Through a lively community service booth and concession stand, members raised funds, collected food, and donated directly to support the homeless. Any leftover food went straight to the shelter, ensuring nothing went to waste and everything went toward hope.
The initiative, coordinated by Mitali from Mountain House, embodied what Poorba stands for – joy shared is joy multiplied.
That same giving spirit extended later in the year through Cooking for a Cause (Nov 22), when Poorba members gathered at St. Mary’s Dining Hall to cook and serve warm meals to those in need. Side by side, families, friends, and volunteers cooked not just food – but compassion. Because in Poorba’s world, service doesn’t end when an event does; it simply finds a new form.
Empowering Minds: Education, Youth, and the Future
Education has always been Poorba’s silent cornerstone.
In the Summer of 2025, the Back-to-School Donation Drive brought together families, employers, and volunteers to ensure every child in Mountain House started the school year prepared and proud. From Amazon wishlists to in-person drop-offs, community generosity flowed freely. Storybooks found their way into classrooms at Wickland, Altamont, and Bethany Elementary. School supplies reached students through the Vidya Daan program. Every donation – large or small – told a single story: no child in our town should ever feel left behind.
Building on that legacy, Poorba Youth launched a STEM
Support Initiative in November – a youth-led effort to strengthen science education across all Mountain House schools. Partnering with principals and PTOs, Poorba pledged $100 to each elementary and middle school and $200 to the high school, kickstarting a long-term vision for student-led innovation.
It wasn’t just a donation; it was an investment in the leaders of tomorrow – compassionate, curious, and community-minded.
Health, Healing, and Humanity
September marked a series of deeply meaningful partnerships – each echoing Poorba’s belief that a strong community begins with good health and open hearts.
At the Durga Pujo 2025 celebrations, Poorba collaborated with Autonomend, a youth-led nonprofit founded by Mountain House High School students raising awareness for dysautonomia. The group ran a fundraiser from Poorba’s community booth, with every dollar donated to their cause. Just steps away, another booth – organized by Karthik, a local resident – offered visitors a chance to join a stem cell donor registry to help save a child battling a rare blood disorder. Poorba provided the space, support, and visibility – proving that festivals aren’t just for devotion, but for making a difference together.
That same weekend, Poorba also supported the City of Mountain House’s Health and Wellness Expo with Kaiser Permanente. Acting as the official marketing partner, the organization donated volunteer hours, coordinated student helpers, and even sponsored refreshments and promotions to ensure a successful event.
It was a weekend that wove together joy, faith, and service – a perfect reflection of Poorba’s soul.
A Season of Giving, A Legacy of Hope
As the year drew to a close, Poorba’s spirit of giving showed no signs of slowing.
The Blood Donation Drive with Vitalant (Nov 29) built on the success of the previous year, rallying residents once again to give the most selfless gift – the gift of life. Each donor, each drop, a quiet act of heroism.
When HF Hope, a local nonprofit, faced a financial setback during the government shutdown, Poorba stepped in – pledging a portion of Dandiya event proceeds to help them continue serving families in crisis. Because when one organization stumbles, another must extend a hand – that’s the unwritten code of community.
And finally, in December, Poorba joined the Brighter Christmas Toy Drive, wrapping gifts and spreading cheer to children who might otherwise go without. The laughter of volunteers, the joy of the children, and the shared warmth of giving perfectly captured the season’s spirit.
*Beyond Rumors, Beyond Recognition *- This Is Poorba
Through every month of 2025, one thing remained constant – Poorba’s quiet, relentless commitment to compassion.
It didn’t need billboards or noise to prove its worth; its proof lies in the lives touched, the youth inspired, and the community strengthened.
Some will always question. But those who’ve stood alongside Poorba – cooking meals, donating supplies, or simply sharing a smile – know that this organization’s legacy isn’t measured in money, but in meaning.
Because Poorba isn’t just an association. It’s a promise – that Mountain House will always have a heart that beats for everyone.
